Financials keep FTSE flat

The FTSE 100 has ended the day flat with just a small rise of 2.1 points, or 0.03%, to 6,242, as miners recovered from earlier losses but property and financial stocks limited gains.

Vedanta Resources ended the session as the top gainer with a rise of 2.83% to £11.62, closely followed by Rio Tinto which added 1.94% to £27.27, while Drax climbed 2.22% to 690.5p. Smith & Nephew also performed well with a rise of 1.85% to 577.75p, while British Airways moved up 1.66% to 551p, although Vodafone weighed on the index with a drop of 1.34% to 147p. Slough Estates was among the biggest fallers with a drop of 1.19% to 747.5p, while British Land slipped 1.13% to £15.79, although the biggest drag on the FTSE was Man Group which fell 1.56% to 537.5p, while Royal & Sun Alliance...
