The Department for Work and Pensions has announced the replacement for David Laverick, the Pensions Ombudsman.
Tony King, currently Lead Ombudsman at the Financial Ombudsman Service with responsibility for pensions and securities, will take up the post of Pensions Ombudsman and Pension Protection Fund (PPF) Ombudsman on 1 September. Although Paul Thornton is currently conducting a Review of the functions of pensions institutions, including the Pensions Ombudsman, the DWP says even if changes are announced following the findings of the Review, this “will not remove the need for the appointment of a new Pensions Ombudsman and PPF Ombudsman”.
