Mortgage loans up slightly in September says BoE

The increase in total net lending to individuals in September stood at £9bn and was broadly in line with the increase in August and the previous six month average, the latest figures from the Bank of England (BoE) reveal.

The BoE says the increase in net mortgage lending stood at £7.7bn which was higher than the increase in August at £7.6bn and also a little stronger than the previous six month average £7.4bn. The twelve-month growth rate fell to 10.2% in September from 10.3% in August, it adds. Meanwhile the number of loans approved for house purchase was slightly higher in September than in August rising to 107,000 from 106,000 the previous month.
