FTSE down in early trading

Early struggles on the FTSE 100 have seen it slump 33.7 points, or 0.51%, to 6582.70 in early trading.

Cable and Wireless made early gains, up 5.1 points, or 2.73%, to 191.8p, as was Experian, up 9.5 points, or 1.59%, to 608.5p. Vodafone also weighed in with gains, going up 1.7 points, or 1.13%, to 151.6p. However, this was offset by Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance, down 6.7 points, or 3.95%, to 163p, and Morrison Supermarkets, down 6.75 points, or 2.11%, to 313.75p. Drax also suffered in early trading, going down 16 points, or 1.95%, to 804.5p. In the US, the Dow Jones ended the day marginally down, finishing down 14.3 points, or 0.11%, on 13525.65.
