Osbourne attacks Brown over pensions failure

Pensions are the "single biggest policy failure" of Gordon Brown, with lower paid workers not in defined benefit schemes suffering the most, claims the Conservatives.

Speaking at the Pep and Isa Manager’s Association’s (PIMA) annual conference, George Osbourne, the Conservative Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, says since 1997 60,000 occupational pension schemes have wound up while the household savings ratio has almost halved to 5.2%. Touching on subjects including public sector pensions, the death of occupational DB schemes and forced annuitisation, Osbourne outlined areas in which the Conservatives will be looking at in regard to pensions.
