Labour to extend parents' flexible working

The Labour Party has today announced manifesto proposals affecting employment law as the chancellor said the government would consult on plans to extend the rights of parents to flexible working hours.

Delivering a speech in Coram’s Field, London, chancellor Gordon Brown unveiled the Labour Party’s families policy by stating if re-elected, the government would look at extending flexible working hours for parents of older children by building on existing arrangements for parents with younger children. ”We have already introduced the right to request flexible working to parents of children under six, and nearly a million parents have benefited. ”Many have said that the most important thing for them is to be able to work flexible hours so that they can balance their lives between the c...
