The FTSE 100 has started to recover from two days of losses with gains of 45 points, or 0.73%, to 6,216.5 in early trading, following some strong results news.
British American Tobacco is among the top performing stocks with a rise of 3.36% to £16.01, after it reported an 8% rise in pre-tax profit, while Reuters figures have also been well-received pushing the media stock up 3.27% to 450p. However Royal Bank of Scotland is posting the biggest gains with a rise of 3.68% to £20.83, while Reckitt Benckiser has climbed 2.89% to £26.38, and Persimmon has added 2.87% to £14.36. On the downside Aviva, the parent company of Norwich Union, is the biggest drag on the index with a fall of 1.04% to 809.5p, closely followed by HBOS which has slipped 0.28% ...
