Consultancy firm Towers Perrin is launching a new fast-track trustee training programme to help companies comply with the new regulations for Trustee Knowledge and Understanding.
The Pensions Act 2004 introduced a requirement for at least one-third of trustees to be member-nominated (MNTs), and it calls for trustees to have knowledge and understanding of the law relating to pensions and trusts and the principles relating to the funding of occupational schemes and the investment of scheme assets. In addition, the new rules, overseen by the Pensions Regulator, asks for trustees to have a working knowledge of its own scheme’s policy documents so they can use them effectively when carrying out their duties as a trustee.
