Brown's devotion to means-testing could 'destroy' pensions

Gordon Brown and the Treasury could end up destroying personal pensions if he refuses to scrap means-testing claims Dr Ros Altmann.

In a TV programme, “30 Minutes: Gordon Brown’s Pensions Timebomb”, to be broadcast on Channel 4 at 7.35pm tonight, Altmann says the rivalry between Tony Blair and Gordon Brown means we have not received the radical pensions reforms we have been promised. The programme, hosted by Altmann, also criticises the idea of personal accounts, with guest Alan Pickering suggesting “no sane politician would go near them”, while Altmann says the proposed system could not only leave the government open to mis-selling, as the majority of people cannot be safely advised to enter them, but they could also...
