Further appointments of junior ministers are expected to be announced later today, as the only major change to the government's cabinet is the return of David Blunkett to the fold as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions.
All other posts remain largely the same, albeit Alan Johnson, formerly holding the DWP top slot, has now moved to the revamped DTI as the Secretary of State for Productivity, Energy and Industry. Geoff Hoon has also moved from defence to Leader of the House of Commons, and is replaced by John Reid MP, while Douglas Alexander is also installed as Europe Minister. Key junior minister posts are expected to be announced, as former chief secretary to the Treasury Paul Boateng stood down from his government post and as MP at the general election to become South African High Commissioner. ...
