The last few chapters of Turner's report look to people's understanding of pensions issues, alternative systems in other countries, and issues specific to women and pensions.
In chapter 6 of the report Barriers to a voluntarist solution, Turner finds that just 44% of people claim good or reasonable understanding of pensions issues. Citing a YouGov survey commissioned by the ABI, the data suggests most people do not know what rate of tax relief rate they receive on pensions contributions. Just 17% of basic rate tax payers and 28% of higher rate tax payers were able to correctly identify the tax relief rate.
