All-Party Parliamentary Group on pensions formed

An All-Party Parliamentary Group has been created to try to establish a clear consensus between the various political parties over the state of the current pension system.

The new initiative, chaired by Lynne Jones, the Labour MP for Birmingham Selly Oak, held its inaugural meeting in Westminster towards the end of last month. Speakers included Secreatary of State for Work and Pensions, David Blunkett and academic, David Blake who discussed the much-vaunted Swedish Model. The All-Party Group on Pensions Consensus replaces the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Pensioner Incomes, which was formed to develop political consensus around long-term pensions policy development.
