Editorial: ABI report misses double-standards

The ABI's publication of proposals for financial advice commission reform have sparked reactions from the IFA sector of the trade body picking up where the FSA left off.

In its lengthy consultation published on Monday and entitled Study of intermediary remuneration, the Association of British Insurers is picking up where the FSA left off and appears to suggest despite having found no evidence of IFA commission bias – again, as was the case with the FSA – the way in which financial intermediaries should be remunerated should change because its membership is worried advisers are influenced first by commission paid and second by the quality of the product.
