New Star to rumble in the jungle

New Star Asset Management is going out to Africa for its new fund.

The Heart of Africa fund will invest in central African countries, with a particular focus on mining and resources. Managed by Jamie Allsopp, the fund will invest in Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana, Botswana, Zimbabwe, the Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Allsopp has experience in the region, with about 9% of his £67m New Star Hidden Value fund invested in the continent.
