Carnival fails to keep FTSE afloat

The FTSE 100 has ended the days trading down 23.2 points, or 0.39%, to 5,906.1 despite good performances from Antofagasta and Carnival.

Diageo was one of the biggest drags on the FTSE, with a fall of 2.5% to 935p, as decent full year figures were overshadowed by its failure to upgrade its current year forecasts, only Anglo American performed worse during the day, ending the top loser with a drop of 2.57% to 2,272p. However copper miner Antofagasta was the top performer with gains of 4.02% to 465.5p, despite news the strike at Chile's huge Escondida mine could be over, while cruise operator Carnival benefited from a bullish note from Morgan Stanley to end the day up 2.88% to 2,253p.
