The CBI and IMA have both voiced their approval for findings from the Employer Task Force to strengthen the position of the UK's voluntary pensions system.
CBI deputy director-general John Cridland believes employers are committed to reinvigorating the voluntary pensions system and recognise their task in funding and promoting pensions. Cridland says: "Employers should contribute, when they can afford to do so. Employer contributions have doubled to £37bn since 1997, and are continuing to rise, but we must recognise that not all employers are able to.” He adds compulsion is no panacea for the UK's pension problems - which many view simply as new tax on jobs - as it leaving many individuals unhappy at being forced to invest in a volatile st...
