IFA Comment: Advice is an essential part of pensions

Lord Turner's comments about the lack of advice within a National Pensions Savings Scheme (NPSS), has provoked a flurry of responses from IFAs.

Many of the responses to the article on Adair Turner’s views on the NPSS, have taken the opposite view, suggesting advice is still a very important part of retirement provision. Jenny Goldsmith of Lifestyle Mortgages Ltd, says pensions advice is necessary to help people understand what pensions are. “Advice on pensions is ESSENTIAL for the public as well as the government otherwise people can do things that are illegal, such as making contributions when they should not, or over £3600 a year when there is no earned income.
