LSE confidence boosts FTSE

The FTSE rose 0.02%, or 1.5 points, to 6279.3p this afternoon as a Citigroup report saying trading would not slow lifted London Stock Exchange Group. The group rose 2.66%, or 48 points, to 1855p.

Cadbury Schweppes rose 2.47%, or 15 points, to 623p after shareholder Nelson Peltz said the sweets and beverages manufacturer must return more money to investors. Northern Rock fell 4.92%, or 4.5 points, to 86.9p after the Bank of England said it might sell off its assets if the Government had to take control of the company. Rexam continues its fall after saying last Thursday last Thursday profits would suffer from foreign exchange costs write-downs. The drinks can manufacturer fell 2.46%, or 9.75 points, to 387.25p. In the US, the Dow Jones rose 0.16%, or 21.46 points, to 13188.66c...
