ABI targets non-disclosure thru application redesign

The Association of British Insurers has issued a consultation paper which it hopes could reduce client non-disclosure by redesigning the application form for protection products.

A series of changes to a company’s application forms has been proposed which are intended to make it as easy as possible for the consumer to understand what data is and is not required in personal and medical disclosure. More specifically, the ABI consultation paper on clarity says it is looking to improve the design of application forms, as this in part reduces the burden on financial intermediaries or “salespersons” to explain how clients interpret a question and in turn should reduce the prospect of non-disclosure by the client. “Although not all non-disclosure arises because of fa...
