FTSE stays weak; Dow given boost

The FTSE closed this afternoon at 6189.1 after falling 35.2 points, or 0.57%.

Standard Life rose 9.25 points, or 3.03%, to 315p. ITV rose 2.6 points, or 2.55%, to 104.4p. British American Tobacco rose 38 points, or 2.4%, to 1624p. International Power rose 9.5 points, or 2.23%, to 435.5p. Persimmon rose 22 points, or 1.935, to 1164p. Lonmin plummeted 156 points, or 4.81%, to 3085p. Morrison Supermarkets fell 10.25 points, or 3.6%, to 274.25p. Man Group fell 19 points, or 3.5%, to 524p. Punch Taverns fell 36 points, or 3.36%, to 1036p. Invesco fell 19 points, or 3.15%, to 585p. The Dow Jones opened this morning at 13226.54 after rising 44.63 points, or 0.34%....
