Budget throws property open to CTFs

Rule changes announced in the Budget mean investors in Child Trust Funds will be able to invest in property through collective investment schemes.

Jason Hollands, director of strategy and communication at F&C Asset Mangement has confirmed this reading of the text put out by the Inland Revenue as part of the supporting documents to the government's annual expenditure plans. The option to invest in brick and mortar through the CTF comes as both Isas and CTFs will have access to UCITS and non-UCITS schemes, as long as they satisfy FSA authorisation requirements.
