Prospects of a counter-bid for Abbey National group are increasing, says the Daily Telegraph.
According to reports in the Telegraph, HBoS is considering "whether a combination with Abbey" would be in the interests of its shareholders but Lloyds TSB could yet try again following its blocked takeover bid in 2001. HBoS is not expected to declare its hand until after Santander publishes its offer document next month.
