Financials flatten Friday FTSE

A late rally has softened the end of week losses for the FTSE 100, with the index closing 20.90 points lower (0.32%) to 6476.90.

Financials were slammed again, with Schroders down 2.51% to 1318. Its non-voting stock followed, 2.34% lower to 1170. BT and Standard Life closed the week poorly also, down 2.24% to 273.25 and 1.75 and 253 respectively. Energy stocks performed the best as oil nudged $100 a barrel. Cairn Energy led the gains, up 3% to 3090. Reed Elsevier and BSkyB also had a good day at the office, up 2.02% to 682 and 1.46% to 627 respectively.
