Financials mark down FTSE morning

The FTSE 100 is struggling this morning on the back of a poor start for financials, the index is currently 44.20 points lower, or 0.66%, to 6677.40.

Northern Rock, Lloyds TSB, HSBC and HBOS are all among the top fallers, but Barclays is at the top of the list, currently 15.50 points down, or 2.57%, to 588.50. Royal Bank of Scotland is not faring too much better, down 13 points, or 2.52%, to 503.50. Consumer electronics retailer DSG International is writing off most of yesterday’s solid gains, down 3.30 points, or 2.55%, to 126.20 Unilever is faring much better after announcing its growth momentum was sustained and is broadly in line with markets.
