FTSE jumps as Dow drops

The FTSE opened at 6666.3p this morning after leaping 31.1 points, or 0.47%.

The morning’s winners include BHP Billington, which jumped 29 points, or 1.98%, to 1491p. Royal Dutch Shell rose by 35 points, or 1.7%, to 2091p. Royal Bank of Scotland Group increased by 10.5 points, or 1.66%, to 643.5p. Antofagasta rose by 9.5 points, or 1.47%, to 656p. Experian dropped 11.5 points, or 1.82%, to 622p. Invesco fell 8.5 points, or 1.29%, to 652.5p. Marks & Spencer Group fell eight points, or 1.28%, opening at 618p. Kingfisher fell 2.5 points, or 1.11%, to 223.25p. Mitchells & But dropped nine points, or 1.03%, to 867p. The Dow Jones closed at 13565.84c after fall...
