N. Rock stocks rise on independence reports

The FTSE fell 2.8 points, or 0.04%, this morning to 6593p.

Northern Rock rose 11.8 points, or 7.44%, to 170.3p following reports the bank could remain independent. SABMiller rose 43 points, or 2.96%, to 1494p. Barratt Developments rose 16.5 points, or 2.16%, to 781.5p. Persimmon rose 20 points, or 1.9%, to 1070p. Scottish & Newcastle rose 11 points, or 1.8%, to 620.5p. Kazakhmys fell 69 points, or 4.32%, to 1527p. Royal Bank of Scotland Group fell nine points, or 1.58%, to 560.5p. HSBC fell 13 points, or 1.35%, to 948.5p. Carphone Warehouse Group fell 4.5 points, or 1.29%, to 345.5p. BAE Systems fell six points, or 1.22%, to 487.75p. ...
