Pensions white paper to propose two NPSS models

The government's white paper on pensions reform is expected to come in two parts and will focus on state reform before offering two separate proposals for the operation of a national pensions savings scheme, government sources have told IFAonline.

The white paper will be put before the Cabinet next week and its publication is now expected on May 23rd, although Whitehall sources say presentation to the cabinet is generally considered a formality as most discussions regarding the proposals have been completed. The first part of the white paper is expected to present proposals for reform of the basic state pension system while the second will offer proposals for a national pension scheme.
