Institutions see lure of gold trading

Institutional investors are increasingly turning to gold as an alternative to equities thanks to the spread of trading in gold securities bought and sold against gold held in trust.

Gold Bullion Securities, a company that enables retail and institutional investors to trade gold without owning the actual metal, says the growing interest in the market means it is already looking to add a US listing, with other exchanges set to follow. Some $660m worth of gold has already been placed in trust as growth in demand for the market in gold securities has expanded, GBS says.
