FTSE rises but stuck in bear market

In London, shares made further gains but the benchmark FTSE 100 index remains in bear territory, up 90.1 points (1.7%) to 5,376.4.

Wolseley shares made the largest gains, up 41.25p (14.44%) to 327p, while Barclays added 29.75 (10.24%) to 320.25p after investors agreed to buy new shares. Ferrexpo shared dropped 24.25p (8.24%) to 270p, while Eurasian lost 64 points (5.82%) to £10.36. On Wall Street, markets lifted after some recovery was seen in the banking sector, but tech firms slowed progress, with the Dow Jones adding 47.39 (0.41%) to 11,494.05. Citigroup shares rose 1.89 (10.52%) to $19.86, while Bank of America shares gained 1.14 (4.3%) to $27.64. Microsoft shares made the biggest loss after the firm said earni...
