The Bank of England (BoE) considered expanding its programme of quantitative easing, the minutes from the last Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting have shown.
The minutes of the May meeting revealed all nine members voted unanimously to keep rates on hold at 0.5%. The MPC debated expanding its asset-buying programme but eventually settled on a £50bn extension, following an initial £75bn tranche announced in March.
