Alliance & Leicester stayed strong today and climbed 28 points, or 2.49%, to 115p. Reed Elsevier rose 11 points, or 1.66%, to 675p. GlaxoSmithKline rose 21 points, or 1.63%, to 1310p. Punch Taverns rose 20 points, or 1.53%, to 1323p. BT Group rose 4.5 points, or 1.36%, to 334.25p. Lonmin stocks dived by 293 points, or 6.85%, to 3985p. BG Group fell 20.5 points, or 2.34%, to 857p. Segro fell 12.5 points, or 2.04%, to 599p. Xstrata fell 61 points, or 1.78%, to 3361p. Royal Dutch Shell dropped 33 points, or 1.59%, to 2040p.
