EEF, the manufacturers' organisation, has assembled a taskforce to examine pensions strategy and arrangements to carry the UK through to 2015 and further into the future.
Paul Lester, chief executive of ship building firm VT Group has been appointed to chair the report, with a primary focus on issues raised by the first Turner Report, investigating how a transition from the UK’s current pension system can be achieved. TheEEF adds the report is due for publication in the summer. The taskforce will also delve into the respective roles of government, employers and employees within in a ‘successful system of pension provision’ and the relationship between state and occupational/private pensions.
