David Blunkett is embarking on a national crusade to foster an understanding with individuals and families to find a pensions solution and turn the pensions net into "a trampoline or an escalator".
Speaking yesterday at the National Association of Pension Funds Annual Conference in Manchester, the newly-appointed secretary of state for work and pensions said a partnership is needed between parliamentary colleagues, opposition parties, industry and employers in conjunction with the government and the Pensions Commission to find a long-term pension solution.
