Stability could return to index-linked annuities market

Stability may be returning to the index-linked annuities market after several months of significant falls in inflation-linked annuity income, according to Alexander Forbes Annuity Bureau.

Index-linked annuities held firm in June with Canada Life retaining its table-topping rate at £3,769 in May, based on a 60-year-old male with a £100,000 purchase. Level annuity rates maintained the equilibrium achieved in May 2009. The top rate from Aviva increased by just £10 to £6,450 for a 60-year-old male with £100,000 purchase. Female rates stay unchanged with the top rate from Aviva remaining at £6,100 for a 60-year-old female with £100,000 purchase. Level smokers' rates also held firm in June for the second month, with the top rate from Liverpool Victoria remaining unchanged at £...
