Conservative ECPG vague on pension policy

The Conservatives have failed to spell out any specific pension proposals in the interim report from its Economic Competitiveness Policy Group.

Instead the report which suggests ways to improve the economic situation of the country, says the Conservative Party will “propose means to make it more attractive for people to save for their retirement, and for the other big events of life”. It adds it is currently analysing the government’s proposals put forward in the pensions white paper in May, and says the Party will “work within the cross party consensus on the basic state retirement pension, agreeing this should in future be indexed to wages in return for a later state retirement age.” In addition the ECPG’s report condemns t...
