The Pensions Commission and the industry as a whole have broadly welcomed the government's white paper detailing its proposals for pensions reform.
Adair Turner, chairman of the Pensions Commission, declared the white paper a victory for his three reports into pensions reform, stating the white paper commits British pension policy to the three key policies which were at the centre of his recommendations. These include: State pension provision should increase over time in line with the nation's prosperity, while the extent of means-testing should be limited along with a gradual increase in the state pension age as people live longer; A better deal for women; and Automatic enrolment into a new system of low cost personal pension...
