Barclays soars on iShares sale plans

Barclays shares are soaring this morning as the banking giant announced it is in talks to sell its iShares business.

The bank has climbed 11.47% after 30 minutes trading, powering the FTSE 100 up 46.42 points or 1.24%, to 3,800.10. Barclays also confirmed it is in "dialogue" with the Treasury and the Financial Services Authority about potential participation in the Government's Asset Protection Scheme. Insurers are also higher this morning, with Legal & General 7.77% ahead and Prudential has added 4.6%. Miners are among the early losses however, with BHP Billiton 2.32% lower and Rio Tinto 2.21% behind. IFAonline
