The composition of funds in the IMA Specialist category are so diverse it is pointless to use the sector as a comparison tool, Hargreaves Lansdown argues.
Specialist funds dominated performance in May, with the top 10 performers all coming from the popular sector. Neptune Latin America, which returned 13.81%, was the top performing offering in May – closely followed by F&C Latin American Equity (13.05%). Advisers seem to be jumping on board as well, with five of the top 10 selling funds on the Hargreaves Lansdown Vantage Supermarket coming from the Specialist sector. Among the Vantage best sellers was the Allianz RCM BRIC Stars fund, BlackRock UK Absolute Alpha and the consistently popular Invesco Perpetual High Income and Income vehicles....
