Clerical Medical has announced it will assume the role of ‘authorised practitioner' of a pension scheme if asked to by the trustees.
After A-Day Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) will introduce a heavier reporting regime, and will automatically consider trustees to be the ‘scheme administrator’ for the purposes of making reports to them. But Clerical Medical claims there is concern many scheme trustees or managers will be caught out by the changes in reporting and will be potentially liable for fines for missing or incorrect scheme reporting.
