The FTSE 100 Index added 6.80 points, or 0.1%, to 5,665 points today, led by triple digit gains on Wall Street.
The Wall Street rally and recovering miners helped the FTSE cancel a near 50-point loss at midday to finish in positive territory. PartyGaming was top of the pile, up 3.25% to 119.25p, as it continued to attract buying interest. Antofagasta rose 2.06% to 397p and Kakakhmys gained 3.11% to 1,095p, fighting back from early losses. UK lender HBOS fell 1.52% to 938.50p, despite saying business remains robust and it remains comfortable with forecasts for 2006 underlying profit before tax of £5.19bn and underlying EPS of 94.9p.
