It's a rusty finish for the FTSE

Vedanta slipped 4.15% to 1,248p, Antofagasta fell 4.65% to 390p and Lonmin dropped 2.19% to 2,720p. Gold futures fell about $10 to $620 an ounce overnight, while silver and copper also slipped. Barclays fell 1.89% to 597p despite revealing it has escaped a possible billion dollar fine, saying claims against it in the Enron case have been dismissed by a US court.
