The Occupational Pensions Regulatory Authority has for the first time since stakeholder pensions were introduced three years ago fined an employer for failing to provide its employees with access to a stakeholder pension scheme.
Flowfood Limited, a company which currently has around 300 employees, has been given a £10,000 fine after it failed to comply with stakeholder legislation. The fine was imposed following Flowfood's failure to give its staff access to a stakeholder scheme although Opra on several occasion had tried to ensure the company complied with the law.
