The FTSE 100 index has dropped 16.5 points, or 0.3%, to 5,958 points today, led by Rolls Royce.
Rolls Royce has fallen 0.89% to 443p after Panmure cut its rating to “sell”, citing valuation grounds. Whitbread has also fallen 0.32% to £12.40 on reports it is considering leaving the high street restaurant market. Tate & Lyle is leading the risers, up 3.67% to 691.5p, after a positive note from Goldman Sachs. Publishing group Pearson has risen 2.08% to 734.5p after it predicted strong earnings growth this year.
