Most people lie at least once a day, but they also increasingly see ethical investments as part of a core investment strategy, according to figures reported by Friends Provident.
The provider of the Stewardship range of ethical funds says the two findings are not mutually contradictory as they may first appear. This is because the reason most people lie is in response to how they perceive such lies will be received by others. In other words, people lie to protect other people’s feelings, rather than for explicitly malicious reasons. Telling lies is most prevalent in the employee-employer relationship, with two-thirds of the more than 1,400 people surveyed suggesting they tell lies at their place of work.
