People do not believe government warnings on pensions and are unlikely to agree to keep working longer, according to a new report covered by The Times.
The Institute for Public Policy Research says workers do not believe government statistics showing they are living longer, suggesting public mistrust in government pensions information could derail attempts to get people to put off retirement. According to Government Actuaries Department (GAD) figures, a man of 19 today retiring at 65 should expect to live until he is 87 – a woman until she is 90, The Times writes.
