Banks are taking a beating in London this morning, but the FTSE 100 is once again being kept afloat by strong miners. The index is up 16.10 points (0.27%) 6050.80 so far.
Lonmin is the best of the bunch despite missing some key production targets; it is 3.44% ahead to 3395. Anglo American and Antofagasta are riding the positive sector sentiment, up 2.12% to 3522 and 2.05% to 847 respectively. While there are three miners at the top, there are three banks down the bottom, with renewed credit crunch worries and rights issues rumours smashing investor confidence in financials.
