Clear, credible financial advice is an important factor in encouraging low and medium earners to save, claims Stephen Timms, minister for pensions reform.
Speaking at a conference hosted by the Resolution Foundation, Timms said the package of pension reform which will be presented in the White Paper in the spring will have to meet five key tests: it will have to be fair, affordable, simple, sustainable, and promote responsibility. But he paid particular attention to the issues of personal responsibility, simplicity and sustainability, saying they would be “most directly impacted” by the focus on low and medium earners.
