Northern Rock fall continues on FTSE close

The FTSE reached 6506.2p this afternoon after rising 39.4 points, or 0.61%.

Northern Rock fell 47.1 points, or 26.28%, to 132.1p after break-up talks over the weekend drove shares down this morning. Associated British Foods fell 22 points, or 2.75%, to 778.5p. Yell Group fell 11.25 points, or 2.62%, to 417.75p. British Land Company fell 28 points, or 2.39%, to 1144p. Liberty International fell 25 points, or 2.19%, to 1116p. Tate & Lyle rose 37.75 points, or 9.38%, to 440.25p. Kazakhmys rose 100 points, or 7.12%, to 1505p. Antofagasta rose 40.5 points, or 5.31%, to 803p.
