FTSE falls as Schroders sees downgrade

The FTSE fell 0%, or 0.1 point, to 6348.4p this morning as analysts downgraded Schroders stocks. The asset manager fell 6.43%, or 70 points, to 1019p.

Sainsbury’s fell 6.04%, or 24.5 points, to 381p following reports it missed profit targets in the run up to Christmas. The health sector performed well this morning as GlaxoSmithKline rose 2.43%, or 31 points, to 1307p and Smith & Nephew rose 2.08%, or 12 points, to 589p. In the US, the Dow Jones fell 1.96%, or 256.54 points, to 12800.18c as no stocks made losses or gains. In Japan, the Nikkei fell 1.3% to 14,500.55 as Nintendo dropped 6.1% to 59,700. 17.
