Peer Matthew Oakeshott, the Liberal Democrats spokesman on work and pensions, has raised some concerns over the impact of Sipps on the pensions market.
Speaking at a meeting organised by PIMA, the Pep and Isa Managers Association, yesterday, Lord Oakeshott has said he was still trying to tease out details from the Treasury on the expected impact of new rules coming into effect on A-Day next year. Suggesting the Treasury does not itself know the answers, Oakeshott says consumers of Sipps are already getting skewed messages, citing the example of print media advertisements for Thompson Holidays situated next to advertisements for foreign property.
